Week 1 - Galatians Overview

The book of Galatians contains some of the most foundational teachings on the Gospel in the whole Bible. Paul goes to great lengths in this short book to prove that salvation is by grace through faith, not as a result of works. He wrote this book in response to inaccurate teaching on the gospel that had infiltrated the churches at Galatia. In order to combat the false doctrine in the Church, Paul had to first expose it and correct it with the truth.
You have been commanded by God in II Timothy 2:15 to “...present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.” Before you begin your study today, pray that God would open your eyes to the truth of His word. Pray that God, by His Spirit, would be your teacher as you journey through the scriptures. Read through the entire book of Galatians in one sitting in order to get a proper overview. When you are finished, respond to the questions below.

• Conclusion
  The purpose of the study today was to give you a basic overview of the book of Galatians. Although you may not see much detail yet, as the weeks go by the picture will become clearer. Continue to pray that God will use this study to deepen you in your understanding of who He is and how He works.
